FAQs

There are no scholarships available for study in Concordia. No financial support is provided from the Indian government either.

There are limited seats available in hostels which are allotted every odd sem. It is easier to get a hostel seat in odd semesters as no new seats are allotted in even semester. Outside campus accommodation can be easily found out from facebook.

The hostel charges for Concordia is 600CD/month and the mess fees is 500-600CD/month. Outside accommodation costs around 300-400CD/month with easy availability of Punjabi tiffin service at 180CD/month. Staying away is not an issue due to availability of metro service. One may expect a total cost of around 4-5 lakhs for the whole forex(including air travel, excluding IITD tuition fees).

No attendance policy. Although there is an ID card window in the 1st 2-3 weeks. Initially, they patch you up with the AAIP types club of Concordia.

Yes, medical insurance is compulsory. It is offered by Concordia for around 400CD. If you get it from India, it might be cheaper.

English

Yes there are courses available which are done simultaneously by Masters & BTech students. One might need permission from IIT professors for receiving credits.

It depends on the department.

One would need prior approval of the professor of IITD.

HUL courses can be easily passed like Micro, Macro econometrics, Language Science etc. A lot of options are available in Department Electives as well.

For Mech, Control theory and Operational Research in odd sem can be passed. Although there might be some problems regarding PreReqs, one may mail regarding queries but offline contact is convenient.

*They have a very good and dedicated UG section.*

IIT does not count labs in HULs done in Concordia, as there are no labs for HULs in IITD. Concordia has a 13 week sem but IIT has 14 week. So while giving credits IIT may count the hours and sometimes even minutes of lectures attended.

Eg: If OR course is 3 credits in Concordia. IIT gives 1 credit out of 3 credits. IIT will allow you to have 2 credits for DE(to be done extra to already 12 compulsory).

You can also go to the HPAIR conference. Can get a scholarship for it too. As there is no attendance policy in Concordia, so no issue regarding time constraint.

It is a bit expensive but many courses are relevant and similar, and hence one can get credits for it in IITD. College semester dates match IIT semester dates, don't clash. Ranking of Concordia doesn’t matter because no one looks at it on your CV. The weather is cold but bearable. One can also plan to travel to the US and have a holiday.
