Module Choices | It is important that applicants read the Module Catalogue Guidance Notes before using the catalogue as it explains the terminology and indicates exclusions. www.ncl.ac.uk/mobility/experience-newcastle/module-catalogue/ Exchange students are free to choose modules within faculties included within the exchange agreement between Newcastle University and their home institution, subject to timetabling clashes and module leader approval. The list of modules available to exchange students can be viewed above. |

Current English Language Requirements (subject to change) | If English is not your native language, you will need to satisfy our English langue entry requirements and there are differences based on your country of origin and education. Please note that the language entry requirements are subject to review and change. Unless you fit into one of the exceptions below, non-native English students must submit a valid English language certificate with a score of IELTS 6.5, PTE 62 or TOEFL iBT 90 (Overall Score). Additionally, if you need a Student Visa, you must have the following minimum score in each subsection which is equivalent to level B2 on the Common Eu-ropean Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): IELTS: 5.5 in all four components of the test PTE: 51 in all four components of the test TOEFL iBT: Reading: 18; Writing: 17; Listening: 17; Speaking: 20 The English test must have been taken within 2 years of the course start date. If a student has taken or is planning to take an English language test that does not appear on our list, you can contact global.opportunities@ncl.ac.uk to check if we will accept it. Exceptions The follow exceptions apply: Norwegian nationals may apply with Norwegian High School English Level 4. National University of Singapore students do not need to take an additional English language test for admis-sion to a Newcastle University Exchange Programme, including students requiring a Student Visa. Students from Hong Kong do not need to take an additional English language test for admission to a Newcas-tle University Exchange Programme, including students requiring a Student Visa. Students from Japanese exchange partners can apply with an IELTS of 6.0 |

The Global Opportunities Team will issue students with the necessary documents required to enter the UK as a student, but it is your responsibility to check if you need to apply for a visa before you travel. If you are coming to Newcastle to study for one semester only, you may need to apply for a Standard Visitor Visa before you travel to the UK. Please check here to see if you need a visa. Accommodation & other info. | |

Accommodation | Applicants who wish to apply for University accommodation can apply online but only after they have been offered a place of study at Newcastle University. Please be aware that semester only accommodation is extremely limited and we cannot guarantee that students will be housed in University accommodation. Semester only students who are offered a place in University accommodation will be informed of their offer in early September. If you are not allocated a place in University accommodation, the Accommodation Team will provide information and guidance on how to look for accommodation in the private sector. |
Special Requirements | Newcastle University welcomes applications from all students and our Wellbeing Service is able to offer support to students who may require specialist assistance to help them during their studies at Newcastle. Certain specialist requirements (e.g. accessible accommodation etc.) may need to be organised and we would appreciate advanced notice so we have a suitable timeframe to assess and arrange the requirements. |

Arrival | The coronavirus situation continues to have a serious impact on international and domestic travel. Although we are planning to welcome students as normal in 2021/22, it is possible there will be changes to our academic calendar and arrival arrangements. Please consider the information below subject to change. Students starting in Semester 1 should plan to arrive before Wednesday 15 September 2021 to take part in our international welcome programme. Teaching will start on Monday 27 September. Students starting in Semester 2 should plan to arrive before Thursday 27 January 2022 to take part in our international welcome week. Teaching will start on Monday 31 January 2022. Full details for the International Welcome Programme and information sessions will be available to download later in the year. |
