Home to over 50,000 alumni since it’s birth, IIT Delhi boasts a rich legacy in terms of both Cultural and Academic excellence. IIT Delhi has 13 hostels spread across the 320 acre campus, each with a unique tale to tell. Each hostel has been named after famous hill ranges to highlight their rich cultural heritage.Â
On Campus Life
Imaginatively laid out with picturesque landscaping, numerous buildings of various nature and stature, and clean and wide roads, the campus presents a spectacle of harmony in architecture and natural beauty. The campus offers various amenities like staff club, hospital, shopping center, bank, post office, telecom center, community center, stadium and playing fields, etc.
The Student Activity Centre provides numerous facilities for students’ extra-curricular activities and physical development. The central double-storied recreation block with a swimming pool and a gymnasium hall offers amenities such as squash courts, hobbies workshops/seminar rooms, music rooms and other multipurpose rooms for reading and indoor games. The large and modern amphitheatre often houses recreational and cultural events.
The institute is equipped with high speed Wi-Fi routers and LAN access points all round the campus. The institute wide LAN is a state-of-the-art switched network with Fiber Optics network and more than 1400 switched network access points. The Internet has been made available to each and every system through a shared 10 Mbps connection. Internet, 250 online journals, databases in all labs and many software packages can be accessed from student hostel rooms. The institute boasts of its Computer center offering a vast array of highly advanced computing resources. Linkages have been established with the IBM solutions research center, Microsoft lab and Intel lab. The Department has several software suites enabling the students to understand and build applications using the state of the art technology.
The IIT Library is the one of the most modern academic libraries. The collection of Central Library is over 300 thousand (of which around 21 thousand pertain to management) comprising books, periodicals,standard specifications, technical reports, theses, CD-ROM databases, journals and video cassettes.
Rendezvous​
Rendezvous is the annual Cultural Festival of the IIT Delhi and is a four-day-long event held in October every year. It hosts more than 280 events and witnesses a footfall of over 160,000. More than 15,000 participants from over 25 countries participated with zeal and enthusiasm in this four day fiesta. RDV’s Got Talent and Campus Princess has given students a platform to showcase their skills. Lifestyle and Fashion shows with participants from different colleges attract huge crowds.

TRYST, IIT Delhi is North India’s largest science, technological and management festival conducted by the student community of IIT Delhi. Since its inception in the year 1992, Tryst has been honored to present eminent personalities such as Brian Action (Founder, Whatsapp), Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia (Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission of India) and Dr. Rahul Pandit (Member of the Chandrayaan Mission). Exhibitions from all around the globe have given an opportunity to all the tech-savvy minds to have a first hand experience of the latest technological innovations. Competitions and Events across various departments with a participation of 40,000 students from all over the nation offer a chance for them to ravage their minds with industrial level problems and win exciting prizes. An assemblage of nerve-wracking competitions, brainstorming guest lectures by some of the biggest names in the field of science, workshops based on latest technological needs, grand exhibitions to showcase technological advancement at its best, and food for thought, TRYST has it all.

Literati- A Confluence of Identities is a celebration of the notion of Intersectionality and how the self interprets the diverse socio-cultural phenomena we experience on a day to day basis. Several renowned speakers like Saurabh Dwivedi, Nandita Das and Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor were invited to deliver the keynote address in the 2023 edition. It aims to promote gender sensitisation and cultural diversity through various podiums and seminars delivered by the most stalwarts in diverse fields like Sociology and Law.
Sportech
Sportech is the largest college sports festival in North India with participation from colleges across the country. It is one of the most prestigious events for college sports teams where they prepare to come and win big amongst competition from colleges like IIT BHU, IIT Kanpur, BITS Pilani to colleges from Punjab, Haryana, UP and our DU colleges. The events have a very wide span where we see lots and lots of sporting events chosen from 11 sports like Cricket, Football, Badminton and also lots of informal events in order to make the fest a fun experience even for people who aren’t very good at sports.
