New Zealand Centre in India at IIT Delhi

A first-of-its-kind joint initiative by the eight New Zealand universities

The New Zealand Centre is a first-of-its-kind in India, established together by all eight universities of New Zealand and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Delhi in February 2020. The eight universities of New Zealand feature in the top 3% worldwide by the QS World. IIT Delhi is one of the top technology institutes in India and holds the special status of Institution of Eminence (IoE) by the Government of India.

A Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoU) was signed in New Delhi by the Centre’s Advisory Board Chair and IIT Delhi Director, outlining the Centre’s vision to develop programmes that would offer quality education and an increased global opportunity for students. The Centre aims to develop programmes to bring together academics from both countries to work on joint-research programmes and host visiting researchers and academicians, especially in the field of Science and Technology. It will be a forum for diplomatic and trade dialogue among different sectors and support student mobility.

The Centre is a focal point of academic activity for the New Zealand Universities and IIT Delhi that also strengthens New Zealand’s education ties with India.
